The exhibition Unsilenced explores issues surrounding mental health through diverse perspectives and artistic media, giving voice to personal and shared experiences affecting all demographics of the Canadian population. Mental health in Canada is currently a significant issue, with children and youth experiencing rising levels of anxiety and mental illness, about 1 in 5 Canadians experiencing a mental health issue annually, and 1 in 3 affected in their lifetime, impacting daily functioning, work, and social life. The exhibition and its programming speaks to the power of art as a method of exploring, processing and offering opportunities for meaningful dialogue on difficult subjects and circumstances that impact significant numbers of people in our communities.
