SCHOOLS & TEACHERS
February – June 2025
This year we will provide art programming to accommodate the different needs of teachers and their students in and out of school.
1) In Person at the gallery - As in the past, it is always better to view art work in person and this semester we have great tours and hands-on activities scheduled for in person visits.
2) Virtual - with provided kits, instructions, and a live virtual get together. Teachers will have access to a scheduled time with the Education Coordinator who will lead a tour either virtually or photographic image of the art gallery/museum and enough art materials for the class to work on together.
May 2025
IN PERSON - IN THE COMMUNITY PROGRAMMMING
In the Community program: Discovery Nature Walks
Dates: April 28 to May 8, 2025 (no tours Monday mornings or Fridays)
Times: 10:00am-11:30am OR 1:00pm-2:30pm
The walk will be a grounding experience based in Wakamow Valley, starting in Connor Park to acknowledge the long history of the area.
Theme: Students will have an opportunity to go on a guided tour of the area and focus on Social Studies and Science themed lessons tailored to the class’s curriculum. (in booking, please specific area of focus)
Activity: Guided walk and drawing of area with a keen focus on animal tracks and plant rubbings to help identify local flora and fauna in the area.
PLEASE NOTE: Teachers will need to arrange transportation to Connor Park entrance and be prepared for cooler conditions as it is early spring.
June 2025
IN PERSON OR VIRTUAL PROGRAMMMING (painting only)
Exhibition: True North – a look at our Canadian Identity from our Permanent Collection
This exhibition features work from our permanent collectionthat looks at all aspects of our Canadian Identity.
Theme: What are our Iconic Symbols that represent Canada
Activity: (Until June 12) Clay sculptures bobble head
Students will learn pinch pot techniques to create a Character inspired from the exhibition.
(June 16 – 25) Pop Art Painting of the Canadian Identity
